Middle School

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Middle School operates with a blended classroom model, leveraging Google Classroom for online assignment access. Its primary objective is to ready students for High School Spanish. Employing diverse online platforms, the class ensures both enjoyment and educational value. Through engaging competitions on Kahoot, students reveal their competitive spirit. Quizziz was adopted this year for assessments, appreciated for fostering a sense of accomplishment in learning. In addition, students created Interactive Notebooks to store notes and handouts for reference during assignments.  My hope is that the Notebooks will serve as a reference for them no matter where they attend school.

EOY Project

Students completed an an end of year project on the verb "gustar" by creating a comic strip. They were instructed to use vocabulary from previous units like: la familia, la casa, la escuela, descriptive adjectives and greetings. Students were encouraged to use their creativity to create a story using their emerging language skills.

Voces Digital - The new curriculum 2024-25

For months, I've been conducting extensive research and seeking input from other Spanish 1 teachers regarding their curriculum preferences and critiques. Considering the resources we have available at SACS, I searched to find a program that could give us more of everything.  I chose Voces because it gives us the option to use a variety of online texts with one subscription.  The lessons are also thematic.  Additionally, Voces features a built-in system allowing students to record both written and spoken responses, enhancing their engagement and learning experience.  I plan to start 5th and 6th grade in the Intro to Spanish book and 7th and 8th grade will use Mundo 1.  As we advance, we'll have the flexibility to incorporate resources from any of the other available texts offered by Voces.
