¡PRACTICA TU ESPAÑOL ESTE VERANO! Practice your Spanish this summer!

Summer is a great time to practice some of what you have learned this year in Spanish class! Language learning can be a “use it or lose it” situation, so try your best to use what you’ve learned and maybe even learn some more this summer. Here are some resources to practice and keep learning Spanish over summer break: 


TALK TO PEOPLE!

Practice the Spanish you’ve learned with Spanish speakers in your family, neighborhood or community. Use Spanish when you travel. The more you use it, the better you’ll remember it!


USE LANGUAGE LEARNING APPS

With an app, you can practice Spanish as a daily habit on your phone or other device. Though these aren’t complete language learning systems, they can reinforce and build on what you know. Here are a few popular apps:



 *If your student just graduated and is headed to High School, they can still participate by creating their own personal accounts and inviting their friends to join them. It’s a fun way to keep in touch with friends over the summer, while competing and learning Spanish!


READ IN SPANISH

One way to improve your proficiency in Spanish is by reading texts that are on your level. Here are links to some free or reasonably-priced beginner/leveled reading materials:



LISTEN TO PODCASTS FOR SPANISH LEARNERS

You can listen to podcasts while doing chores, working out or doing other activities that do not require intense concentration. Here’s a few you might want to try:


WATCH YouTube CHANNELS FOR SPANISH LEARNERS


On YouTube, you can find SO MUCH CONTENT specifically for Spanish learners. These are a great way to acquire Spanish quickly, since you’re getting both visual and auditory elements. A few channels to check out:

It can be fun and motivating to follow some popular accounts from native Spanish speakers. You can follow your favorite Spanish-speaking actors, musicians or influencers. Some names to check out: Gibby, Ana Saia, Lele Pons, 


LISTEN TO MUSIC IN SPANISH

There are plenty of familiar US artists who have produced music in Spanish, but it’s also worth it to get to know some popular performers from Spanish-speaking countries.


WATCH MOVIES OR SHOWS IN SPANISH

Watch some of your favorite English language programs and movies in Spanish with English subtitles. You’ll be surprised how many of your favorites are available in Spanish! Remember to choose the Spanish language track with English subtitles. Stream authentic shows originally written and created in Spanish.
